About

We’ve been camping since,,, Noah built the Ark.  Growing up my family camped, and every summer we’d take a two week vacation somewhere to go camping in Washington or Oregon with my Cousins.  Sandy was a Military Brat, so her siblings always had Army gear to play with and camped out in the yard at whatever Post was home.  So, when we got together, we headed down to Disney World with our pup tent and had a blast!  Back then, in the Air Force with not much money, we found cheap things to do and I still remember our first camp near Disney, in an old Orange Grove, with the trees loaded with ripe fruit!

I’ve just retired from 38 years of Federal Service.  I hated to go, I really liked my job, but Sandy finally convinced me that we have to retire young enough to enjoy it.  I started my career right out of High School working two summers for the Forest Service, manning a Lookout Tower or spotting from an airplane.  It was great, but not much future.  Then I was off to the Air Force to do what I always wanted, Law Enforcement.  I had a good time, but realized that could be dangerous to my health.  I earned a Pilots license and decided to cross train to Air Traffic Control.  Now, THAT was a real job!  I got out and went into the FAA just before the PATCO strike.  We’ve been moving all around the country as I climbed the ladder and finally found the best job EVER!  Programming the ATC computers!  So, now I am retiring out of Chicago O’Hare.

Sandy earned her Nursing Degree a little latter than some.  But this way she already knew what she wanted, and has done very well.  She did Labor and Delivery for about 20 years, along with AirEvac, Management, Instructor, and Chief Bottle washer.  Then she switched over to NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) and has been there for about 8 years.  The beauty about it is, she can find a job anywhere.  And I’m going to do my best to help her find that job for a few more years.

So as Sandy works part time, we’ll be traveling and seeing the country by Motorhome.
